Magento Live Australia 2018 highlights
Last week I had an opportunity to take part in the biggest Magento event in Asia-Pacific – Magento Live Australia. This is official Magento conference where Magento merchants, solution providers technology partners meet with Magento Inc. team and each other. In this blog post I share with you the event highlights.
Magento ecosystem update
Extensive ecosystem is a strong advantage of Magento.
Here are the fresh update of the ecosystem:
- $155B gross merchandise revenue turned by merchants through Magento
- 72M of buyers
- $7B Magento economy (business of companies related with Magento like implementation partners, consultants, extension providers
- 511 unique contributor to open source code with 1,606 pull requests created
- 300K Magento official forum members
- New Magento customers in APAC region include such known brands as Louise Vutton, Samsung, BVLGARI, Australia Post, Forever New, Auckland Airport, Linen House
- Magento Marketplace has over 3,000 extensions listed, 123,000 orders and over 200K monthly visits

Magento roadmap
The changes that Magento plans to roll out consist from three streams:
- Shopping experience
- Adding new sales channels, first one will be out of the box integration with Amazon marketplace
- New Page builder that helps merchants to create more dynamic and engaging pages in less time through easy to use online interface
- Progressive Web Application (PWA)
- Omni-selling and fulfillment
- Multi-source inventory, open source project available at Github
- Extensions touch points for Magento Order Management
- Merchant intelligence
- Magento Business Intelligence for Magento Order Management
- Personalization and segmentation through Magento Business Intelligence
Miscellaneous
Other interesting things that should be noted:
- Magento 2 developers certifications will be available this year
- Magento has launched Magento Shipping with Temando, integrated shipping management solution. It already supports 2 carriers in Australia, the price starts from $99/month
- Magento Innovation Lab helps developers to showcase innovative solutions enhancing the ecosystem
