We’re excited to announce a new step toward agentic commerce: Magenable has released an open-source Magento MPC extension that now supports remote connections — making it possible to connect your Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce store directly with OpenAI Agent Builder.

This update allows merchants and developers to experiment with integrating OpenAI-powered agents — including chat-based shopping assistants, automated support, or intelligent product recommenders — without hosting everything in the same environment as the store.

What Is Magento MPC?

The Magento MPC (Magento MCP) serves as a bridge between your Magento or Adobe Commerce store and AI agents.
It enables external systems — such as OpenAI’s Agent Builder platform — to query, retrieve, and process store or catalog data securely via a structured interface.

Previously, Magento MPC could only be used locally or within the same network. The latest release introduces remote connection support, which means you can now connect your store to trusted AI services hosted elsewhere, while keeping control over data access and security.

OpenAI’s Agent Builder (currently in early rollout) allows businesses to create intelligent agents capable of handling product recommendations, sales inquiries, or customer support tasks.
