Generative AI with affordable tools like ChatGPT is getting more and more used in everyday business activity. If you run an online store and still struggle to see how AI can help you with everyday business challenges this post may help you to get some ideas.
1. Product descriptions
Writing product descriptions is not an easy task, especially for stores with hundreds and thousands of the products listed. If you are a retailer – you may have access to the descriptions provided by your manufactures or wholesalers, but they are often basic and not unique (so will be exactly the same on your competitor’s website – not good for both SEO to drive the traffic and to convince users to buy one they landed). So you may write a basic description or take one provided by a manufacturer and ask ChatGPT (or DeepSeek, Claude or another tool you use) to come with its better versions.
Use prompts like “Think as a digital marketer and SEO expert. Take the product description below and write its improved version – structured, SEO-friendly and convincing. Stick to the facts, don’t make things up”.
An example
Here is an actual example how it works.

Pro Tip – do it on scale
If you have product description in Excel/CSV files, you may ask ChatGPT to take it and provide the results in CSV file as well, so later use it to import the data to your eCommerce platform. Use the prompt like “Provide result in CSV format saving original structure, but with new values in description column”. It may take few extra prompt to get the results you like, but will be a huge time saver. You may also ask AI to come with SEO data like meta-description, meta-title, keywords.
2. Bundle ideas
Use of bundles (multiple products sold together, often at a discount) is an effective way to increase Average Order Value (AOV). Since shipping costs make up a significant portion of expenses, bundling can also helps to improve overall store profitability. However at some point you may have a creative fatigue on creating bundles, especially with a large product catalogue.
AI can come to rescue there and help you with the ideas. To get better results it is preferred to provide access to your store XML product feed, most likely you have it if you sell on Google Shopping or Facebook. That way you make sure that AI has access to full data and it is well structured. But if not you may just make a link to the website.
The prompt looks like “Think as a marketer. Read that XML feed – https://yourstore.com/products.xml and suggest 3-5 bundle products based on ‘common sense’ approach, without access to sales data“. Don’t forget to replace the URL to your actual XML feed URL. If you have sales data available to share with AI, you may ask for more advanced help, ask AI to suggest the products for bundles based on sales data.
When I experimented with actual Magenable client feeds, the suggestions from ChatGPT were pretty sensible and not always obvious – based on possible product use patterns, time of the year, life stage of the clients.
3. Data Analysis
OpenAI’s ChatGPT can handle the data uploaded to it, like one or more Excel and CSV file and help you makes sense from this data and then present the results. For example you may upload sales report file and ask questions like “What product was a bestseller between 25 and 30 Dec 2024?” or “On what days of the week we had the most sales of product X?”.
If you not sure about what specific things you want to find you may ask ChatGPT to do exploratory data analysis. It will work as your personal data analyst and share with you the findings. ChatGPT supports of files up to 50Mb and you may upload multiple files for more complex analysis.
For presentation part you may ask ChatGPT to build charts, diagram, tables or even make a whole Powerpoint presentation.
4. Customer support and FAQ
Good FAQ (frequently asked questions) section of your online store reduces your customers anxiety and workload to your support team. With AI you may improve it significantly. Here is how:
- Extract customer’s questions and your team answers from your customer support platform (or emails if you don’t have one)
- Upload the data to ChatGPT (you may remove sensitive information beforehand or ask ChatGPT to do it later depends on your level of trust)
- Ask ChatGPT to generate draft FAQ with a prompt like “Summarize the top 20 most common customer support email and answers to them”.
Pro Tip – set a chatbot assisting customers
It is will require a paid tool, so maybe not a very quick win. However most likely you save money on longer run. You may set-up a chatbot that has access to your store policy, FAQ, product data, so it can answer customer’s questions in interactive way hence reducing the barriers to but and saving your human support team time. BTW, for Adobe Commerce and Magento we have a solution you may implement.
5. Customer reviews analysis
Download your customer reviews to CSV. Upload the file, or just copy and paste them to ChatGPT. Ask AI to summarize key pain points, feature requests, and recurring feedback. You get a good summary in minutes. This is much faster than manual analysis, which takes hours. You can use the summary to improve your products, operations, and marketing.
Example prompt: “Analyze these 50 customer reviews and summarize the top 3 things customers love and the top 3 pain points.”
