Making your Magento store secure

(patches installation and hardening )

Magento patching and security hero image

"“If you spend more on coffee than on IT security, you will be hacked. What’s more, you deserve to be hacked."

Richard Clarke

It sounds a bit harsh, but  neglecting your website security is a costly mistake.

Getting your website hacked is not fun: your business loses significant money both directly (costs to regain control and fix the website and lost profit while website is not available) and indirectly due to stolen sensitive information and reputation damage.

Magento eCommerce security

As extremely popular eCommerce platform with thousands of merchants using it Magento is quite often a target of attacks. While it is impossible to make your website totally bullet-proof, following simple security recommendations makes your online store much less easy target and turn off most lower level cyber-criminals.  Magenable helps you to make your Magento based store more secure.

How we make your Magento eCommerce store more secure

  • Patching. To address vulnerabilities Magento regular issues patches that close identified security holes. It is extremely important to apply these patches timely, as soon as possible after release. Cyber criminal also read the news and the attacks to known security breaches may get more intensive after a patch release.  In the last 18 months Magento released several "must to install" patches - SUPEE-8788, SUPEE-7405, SUPEE-6788, SUPEE-6482, SUPEE-6285, SUPEE-5994 and SUPEE-5344
  • Changing default system settings. If your Magento store deployed to live server with default system settings like having admin interface available at /admin/ , it makes it easier target to hack. When we change that settings the life of hackers will be a bit harder.
  • Making sure that your server software is up to date and patched. Similar with Magento your server software needs to be kept up to date. Often it is responsibility of your hosting provider, but we can help you with that if you have self-managed server.
  • Make sure that you don't have outdated admin users (like people who left you business) and user passwords are strong enough.
  • After initial hardening we can look after your Magento store on regular basis, applying the new patches as they are released

How much will it cost me?

Depends on the current state of your website, we'll charge from $999 plus GST to patch your Magento store.
